Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance & AERB Liaison
- Act as the designated RSO registered with AERB via the e LORA portal
- Ensure compliance with:
- Atomic Energy (Radiation Protection) Rules, 2004
- Relevant AERB Safety Codes and Safety Guides
- Coordinate with AERB inspectors during audits and inspections
- Manage license validity, renewals, amendments, and decommissioning approvals
Radiation Protection & Monitoring
- Implement and maintain the Radiation Protection Programme
- Ensure:
- Area classification (controlled / supervised areas)
- Proper radiation signage and access control
- Oversee personnel dose monitoring using AERB approved TLD badges
- Maintain dose records and ensure limits are not exceeded
Safe Operation of METROTOM CT Scanner
- Authorize safe operation of the ZEISS METROTOM Scout
- Verify compliance of:
- Shielding adequacy
- Interlocks and safety systems
- Emergency shut down systems
- Approve scan practices from a radiation safety standpoint
- Investigate and report any radiation incident or abnormal exposure to AERB
Documentation & Records
- Maintain and update:
- AERB approvals and licenses
- Radiation surveys and leakage test reports
- Personnel dosimetry records
- CT room layout drawings and shielding calculations
- Operating procedures and safety manuals
Training & Awareness
- Conduct radiation safety training for:
- CT operators
- Maintenance personnel
- Visitors working near CT area
- Ensure only authorized and trained personnel access the CT facility
Preferred Candidate Profile:
- 3 – 7 years’ experience as RSO or radiation safety professional
- Valid AERB certified RSO approval for Industrial X ray / Radiation Facilities
- Experience with industrial CT / X ray systems (ZEISS, Nikon, YXLON, etc.)
- Familiarity with:
- ZEISS METROTOM OS / INSPECT (advantage, not mandatory)
- Knowledge of:
- Industrial metrology environments
- Automotive, aerospace, plastics, or casting inspection
- Ability to interface with OEM service engineers during maintenance
